INVISALIGN WEEK IS HERE!

Perhaps you remember a previous article in which we discussed invisible braces. Well, a

company named Align Technology created a product called Invisalign several years ago that

now currently dominates the clear aligner market. Although moving teeth with clear plastic

trays has been around for several decades, it was Align’s innovation in computer aided design

and manufacture that has allowed it to become the true leader in this type of technology.

 

“Why get my crooked teeth straightened?” you may ask. The most obvious reason would

probably be appearance. But there are many more reasons that may not be obvious to most

folks. The most important reasons to us in the dental field are long term health of the teeth and

gums (and the person attached to them!). You see, misaligned teeth can cause excessive tooth

wear, broken teeth, tooth loss, gum disease, headaches, bad breath and a host of other

problems. And sadly, the great majority of these problems don’t surface until the patient is in

the fourth and fifth decades of life.

 

Our office was certified for Invisalign in 2003. Since then, the technology has improved greatly,

allowing for the treatment of misalignments that were not previously possible. This gives

patients more options to have orthodontic treatment without the unsightly wires and brackets.
